The New Adventure Begins…

What began as an experiment to bring my 11-year-old daughter into my business has evolved into Our Young Creators – a podcast, a training center, and a movement dedicated to equip kids with real-world, marketable skills so that they can fund their own brighter futures. We’re here to inspire you to turn consumption time on devices into creation time and use technology as a tool to bond and not bicker with your kids. Join us each week as we share the inner workings of our partnership, and bring you stories from guests of all ages and from all walks of life on our quest to nurture and to celebrate Our Young Creators.

Hello and welcome back to Episode number one hundred and one of the podcast and our first recording as Our Young Creators. Now today I am joined by my co-creator Daphne. Daphne is my 11-year-old daughter and she really is the inspiration behind Our Young Creators.

If we haven’t met yet, my name is Yong Pratt, and I am the Chief Dreamer and Change Maker right here at Our Young Creators. I am wrapping up my 17 years as a performing arts school owner and working with thousands of families in the process and combining that with my love of technology to be able to share with all of you.

Now over the coming weeks, we are going to be sharing with you a series all about using technology to create with your kids rather than just be consuming information all the time. We see technology as a tool to bond with your kids and to not bicker with the kids and the first idea we have for you here at Our Young Creators is starting a podcast together.

You may be wondering, Why podcasting? For so many reasons, podcasting is a super easy, really great way for you to do something together with your kids that you can use for business or for personal use. Podcasting for you could really be a way to document your child growing up and the adventures you have together. Maybe travel a lot with your family and that could be the source of inspiration for your podcast. Maybe you and your kiddos love to make up bedtime stories. And if you simply recorded those and shared those with the world, you can do that really easily with a podcast.

So the first series we’re going to share here in this new iteration as Our Young Creators is all about podcasting. We’re going to really bust through some myths about podcasting and how it doesn’t have to take a lot of time. The tech doesn’t have to be an issue especially if you bring your kids onboard because, let’s face it, they are super at tech and usually can figure out anything in a matter of just a few seconds. Finding a topic together could be a source of inspiration and a source of conversation between you and your kids and really podcasting becomes something that you can do as a family.

In fact, Daphne has been doing a lot of the behind the scenes work here at Our Young Creators on the podcast and over on our Web site. So be sure to check that out over at At 11 years old, she has so many real-world skills that she can literally take to the bank.

What does that mean? That means the skills that she’s been learning like putting together a Web site – adding in images, video, and audio onto that website and creating images to be shared on the Website, as well as social media, are absolutely skills she can use at 11 to help other people share their messages with the world AND get paid in the process.

How cool is that? Now a lot of times kids think that they don’t have much to offer to the world. They’ll say things like, “I’m only a kid.” Well, here at Our Young Creators, we do not believe kids are just kids. Yes, kids should play and do all those things as kids. However, we believe that kids have their own stories to share. And we want to make sure kids have a safe and efficient platform to share those stories.

On future episodes, we are going to be bringing on guests and creators of all ages and from all walks of life to really show you the possibilities of what you and your kids can create to get her or what you can share with your kids to help them learn to do these things independently.

I want to let you know also that we have a brand new course just for families all about becoming the podcast family and it’s a five-week course where we’re going to walk step by step through each of the processes involved in putting together a podcast and putting together a great story to share with those who follow you – from your family to your friends and be beyond.

So whether you have a business or you want to be able to share something personal on your podcast and use your life and what you’re creating together with your kids as an example. Podcasting is a great way to do that and Daphne and I are going to walk you step by step through that process with live weekly classes and live weekly study hall sessions so that you can get all the help you need in getting your podcast up and running in just five weeks.

I would love for you to head to our Website, for more information about how you and your kids can use podcasting to really create something awesome together and to really leave a legacy for your kids. It’s like putting together the ultimate scrapbook and do it in a way that other people can enjoy as well.

OK, my friends, I’m so excited for what is to come. If you had over to family you can get all the information you need so that you can become the next podcasting family. I look forward to catching you again next week. New episodes are going to be released every Wednesday and I will catch you very soon.
